Today, Sweden is a multicultural society. Many people live here. Many different languages are spoken and there are many different religions in the country.

But it has not always been so. About a thousand years ago, Christianity came to Sweden. Since then, Christianity has been almost the only religion in Sweden. During the 20th century and the 21st century, this has changed and now Sweden is a multicultural society.

Even though most Swedes today are not active in the church, Swedish culture is strongly influenced by Christianity. It is therefore important for those who settle here to understand Christianity.
